On Thursday, the U.S. Justice Department filed a lawsuit to stop two large beer companies from merging . . . and to keep beer prices LOW for all of us.
Anheuser-Busch InBev... which is the company that makes Budweiser . . . wanted to merge with a Mexican beer company called Grupo Modelo. They make Corona.
Together, the two companies represent about 46% of beer sales in the U.S. And the deal would be worth about $20.1 billion.
But the government is worried that if one company controls nearly HALF of the beer market, it would reduce competition and let them raise beer prices.
In other words, your government is fighting to keep beer prices low for all of us.
