TROOP 31 TO HOLD ALUMNI REUNION
State College, PA —Boy Scout Troop 31, chartered by St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, has a lot to be proud of—170 Eagle Scouts awarded to date, more than 40,000 service hours during the past five years alone and countless days of camping. In January 2014, Troop 31 will add yet another impressive number to its list of accomplishments:100 years of continuous service to State College and its youth. To begin our 100th Anniversary celebration, the Troop will be hosting a special reunion weekend Friday, August 23 through Sunday, August 25, 2013, at Seven Mountains Boy Scout Camp in Spring Mills. The weekend is open to all Troop 31 alumni and friends, in addition to current Scouts and their families.
The registration fee, which includes meals, lodging and all activities, is $20 per person; to sign up, please visit the troop website, www.troop31.us, and click on the special anniversary link that can be found at the bottom of our homepage, or contact Craig Colwell at email@example.com.The weekend’s activities will include a variety of outdoor skills such as shooting sports, canoeing, a branding station with a special Troop 31 logo and, of course, a campfire in the newly-renovated amphitheater, which is named after one of T31’s former Scoutmasters, the late Don Bailey. During our Reunion Weekend, we will begin an oral history of Scouting in State College, based upon the popular “Story Corps” model. Audio and video recordings will be archived on the troop website. Come prepared to share stories of your Scouting experiences, as well as photos, patches and other memorabilia. We will also have on display patches, banners, Eagle Scout reports and, of course, photographs highlighting a century of Scouting by Troop 31. Limited editioncentennial patches (pictured at right) will be available for purchase at the Trading Post.
