13th Annual Trash to treasure Sale

What is the Trash to Treasure Sale?

  •  2014 marks the 13th year of the Trash to Treasure Sale event. The gate will open at 7:30am
  • This event is community collaboration between Penn State University and the Centre County United Way.
  • The initial impetus for the event was to reduce the amount of waste from Penn State going to the landfills…a true waste management strategy that saves the University thousands of dollars each year.
  • These items are not abandoned by the students but intentionally donated by placing the items in separate T2T donation receptacles.
  • An average of 60 tons is donated each year. This year donations are down… we currently have 42 tons.
  • It takes 20 hours to sort every ton we receive. Volunteers do the sorting.
  • The proceeds support the 35 Centre County United Way Partner Agencies.
